Dear Members,
Please find below a template letter I would like you to send to your MP;
It is vital for us all that we do not take our foot of the gas and with the newly formed APPG in the House, with cross party support, there has never been a better time to give our Industry the support and the profile that it duly deserves. We have support from London MPs such as Wes Streeting ( Lab ) Victoria Borwick ( Con) and Tom Brake ( Lib-DEM) Plus Lords, so it really is in our hands to contact our MPs and voice our concern and badger them for their support.
We know only to well the political “friends” of UBER, now is the time for us to have a clear voice and put our concerns on the political agenda.
Please take 5 minutes to sign this letter and email or post to you MP.
As Edmund Burke said “..the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing”.
Thank you.
Grant
Dear
I am writing to you as one of your constituents and also as a London Licenced Hackney Carriage driver. As you may or may not be aware, we have been experiencing major difficulties with our Regulator, TFL on a huge range of issues such as licencing, enforcement and Compliance to name just a few.
In fact the Greater London Assembly (GLA) produced an excellent document on TFL`s inadequate running of the Licenced taxi trade called “Future Proof” where they called their performance “Woefully Inadequate”.
On the back of this and other major concerns there has now been set up in Parliament, a
All – Party Parliamentary Group on Taxis:
This has cross party support of MP`s and Lords who are all keen to support the trade and help secure its future.
The two key strands to the group would be:
- Holding the GLA and Mayor of London to account for promises made in his manifesto.
- Apply pressure on Government for a change in the law, whilst also addressing more National issues.
On this basis, I would gratefully ask you to consider supporting the Licenced trade and would request fully ask you to join the APPG along with your fellow MPs and Lords.
I thank you for your time and look forward to your earliest reply.
Yours
