Grant Davis interviews Joylon Maugham
Joylon Maugham QC is a British Barister & Taxation Law Specialist, he is also the founder of the Good Law Project. Joylon is the man who took Uber to task regarding their VAT status and ultimately brought about Uber having to charge VAT on their fares, thus increasing their costs by 20%.
March 2017 Jopylon took an Uber along with some journalists to Uber’s office in Aldgate and handed in a letter demanding a VAT invoice for the journey.
5 Years on from that journey Uber have now been forced to charge VAT on their fares after losing a court case regarding their VAT status in the UK
